As one of South East Asia’s leading destinations for health and wellbeing resorts, Koh Samui is also gaining worldwide recognition as a destination in which people can participate in or study the ancient spiritual and physical discipline of yoga.

For people who wish to visit Koh Samui in order to broaden their minds and learn a new skill then there are plenty of options that are open to you. For those visitors who are truly looking to get in touch with their mind and body, then yoga on Koh Samui is the perfect holiday activity.

Throughout Koh Samui there are a number of independent, freelance instructors who conduct sessions and courses at a number of different spas and resorts throughout the island. There are also a growing number of specialist yoga centres that can be found on Samui, which offer everything from introductory and basic yoga lessons to 3 day courses, as well as professional, intensive programs that can last for more than two weeks.

Some of the most popular specialist yoga centres that are on Koh Samui include Bikram Yoga, Natural High Retreat and Absolute Yoga. At these centres the most common form of yoga is Hatha Vinyasa yoga, which combines breathing exercises with a range of different physical postures and meditation in order to harmonise the mind and body. Another form of yoga that is often taught on Koh Samui is Yin yoga, which tends to be more physical, working on the tendons, ligaments and connective tissue. The final form of yoga that is predominantly taught on the island is called Ashtanga, which is much more dynamic and involves a series of different postures and movements that flow and merge into one another.

This specialist resort provides food, accommodation and one of the best environments on Samui for people to learn about the ancient art of yoga. Classes are held daily in the centres coconut garden, which overlooks the sea. The centre is also smoke and alcohol free.
