Koh Samui Hospitals
Depsite its relatively small size, Koh Samui is home to some of the best hospitals in Thailand, which are located outside of Bangkok. If you happen to require hospital treatment during your stay on the island then you will certainly be in safe hands.
The vast majority of medical services that can be found on Koh Samui are first class with modern facilities and equipment catering for all who visit the island. Generally, Samui’s hospitals are renowned for their high standards, well trained and professional staff, English speaking doctors and affordable private rooms.
In fact, the vast majority of the accredited doctors and other medical staff that work in the islands private hospitals will almost certainly be able to speak English to quite a good standard. Some can even speak other languages, such as German and French.
Many of these doctors will have attended university or medical school in the West and as well as being highly skilled, they will also be better prepared to understand the medical needs and requirements of foreign patients. However, unfortunately the same cannot be said for the doctors in the islands government medical facilities or at other doctor’s surgeries. Therefore, you might want to stick to the main private hospitals on Samui as the doctors are generally considered to be more proficient.
Nearly all of Samui’s hospitals certainly rival anything that can be found in the West and often they can be much cheaper too. Upon first sight of some of the islands hospitals, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were looking at a luxury resort or spa; such is the modern and stylish design of many of the hospital buildings and grounds.
No matter if you a tourist on holiday on Samui and require some outpatient care or an expat needing high quality, local health care then the islands hospitals will be able to offer you professional medical services at reasonable rates.
Here are the contact details of the hospitals that can be found on Koh Samui:
Bandon International Private Hospital
The Bandon Int. Hospital offers excellent facilities and service via its modern and well equipped medical facility in Bo Phut. The hospital has both a surgery and a trauma centre and even has an international clinic on the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan. Prices at the Bandon Hospital are generally cheaper than at other hospitals on the island, most notably at the Samui International Hospital and Bangkok Hospital Samui.
Bangkok Hospital Samui
Arguably the best hospital on the island, the Bangkok Hospital Samui offers a wide range of services and has high levels of spoken English amongst nearly all of its doctors. The standards at this hospital more than match, even exceed those you can usually find in the West. However, this is probably the most expensive hospital on Samui.
Samui Government Hospital
Located on the outskirts of Nathon, Samui’s Government Hospital will probably be somewhat down the pecking order for foreign tourists who will normally opt use one of the islands private hospitals. Although standards here are not up to that of the private hospitals, the government hospital is reasonably well equipped but not to the same extent as other hospitals on the island.
